Raising goats can be fun educational pastime.
Goats are the most awesome little creatures I have every come accross.
They all have different personalities and have different habits that can keep you
amused and smiling for hours
It's an amazing experience to see a goat you have raised from a baby grow up to have
kids and grandkids of their own.
It's also great fun learning how to milk a goat, and then learning how to turn that
milk into things like, icecream, cheese, or even soap.
Goats can also be raised for their hair as in cashmere, or for meat.
Small scale goat keeping can be done in a realatively small area with minimal equipment
and is well suited to the family with a large country yard or small acarage.
Goats are herd animals and a minimum of 2 goats should be kept at any one time.
Goats need the comfort of others, and if you do not provide another animal you will
become their herd instead.
Goat keeping is fairly easy and most children are eager to help with the daily chores
of feeding, watering, and handling of the goats.
Handling is important to keep the goats healthy, happy, and friendly.
Goats can be purchased from goat breeders or often available at livestock auctions.
A healthy goat should have
- Clear bright eyes.
- A smooth shiny coat.
- A goog appetite.
- An alert inquistive attitude.
