Making beer is something that anyone can do with a little time and effort. Once a person finds out that they can create great tasting beer, they will want to do
it all the time. You may find that it is easier to order these things online so that you can get your brewing started faster. You will have to have a malt extract, water, and brewers yeast. The malt extracts can be liquid and are usually in the form of syrup. Dry extracts can be stored longer than the liquid form. You will find many different extracts to choose from. There are pre-hopped and un-hopped malt extracts. These will come in different varieties of grains that you can crush and steep for your
beer. This will be the hardest part of making beer. There are many styles of beer like dark, pale, and amber. There are also English, German, American and some other forms. Your preferred flavor is the going to be the most determining factor. Beer is almost all water. It is best to use spring water even though some people get good results with tap water. Yeast is another big part of making beer. Yeast is what ferments the malts and the sugars into alcohol.
You have to make sure that everything you use for your beer making is clean. Wash it with hot water and then let it dry completely. Making the first batch. The only way to do it is to find the recipe that you like best. You will see that there are certain ones that take longer than others and ones that will take no time at all. Follow your recipe carefully. Generally you add the water, and the malt extract that you are using to a suitable size pot, and let it come to a good boil. Next you want it to cool down quickly, so place the brew kettle (pot) in a sink full of cold water. Make sure that the brew falls below one hundred degrees. Next you will pour it into your sanitized carboy and top it off. Yeast will help your flavor along in the beer. There are plenty of types to choose from for this step. Think about what you want and choose your yeast accordingly Generally it will ferment for eight to ten days. Let it stand at room temperature for two more days after the bubbling stops. Put the beer into a bucket and add 3/4 cup of sugar. Fill your bottles to about an inch from the top and apply a cap. Store in a cool dark place. You will have to let it carbonate for about ten more days. Now sit back and relax with your fresh great tasting bottle of beer. |
